Leadership of the K.I. Satpayev Institute of Geological Sciences
Askar Khamzayevich Syzdykov graduated from the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute named after V.I. Lenin in 1980 with a degree in "Technology and Techniques for Mineral Deposit Exploration." He began his professional career in 1980 as an engineer in the specialized research laboratory "Efficient Methods for Drilling Exploration Wells" at KazPTI named after V.I. Lenin (currently Satbayev University). The laboratory's primary activity was conducting geological exploration of ore deposits in Kazakhstan through the development of technologies and technical tools for obtaining borehole geological samples (core).
Askar Khamzayevich Syzdykovdeveloped several types of diamond drill bits for core sampling in hard rock formations of drilling categories IX-XI. The tests were conducted at major ore deposits of the USSR (Far East, Khabarovsk Krai, Amur Oblast, Karelia, Kola Peninsula, and others). His inventions were validated by USSR authorship certificates and patents in the USA, Sweden, Canada, Japan, and Germany. Following large-scale industrial testing at ore deposits across the USSR, the invention "Diamond Drill Bit" was approved by the State Acceptance Commission and entered mass production under the BIT trademark at the Kabardino-Balkar Diamond Tool Plant (currently the Tersk Diamond Tool Plant). It continues to be manufactured today. During this period, Syzdykov actively participated in expert commissions of the Ministry of Geology of Kazakhstan. In 1988, Syzdykov successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis at the Leningrad Mining Institute named after G.V. Plekhanov (Diploma TN № 117776 dated 15.03.1989, Moscow, USSR Higher Attestation Commission under the Council of Ministers). He holds the academic title of Senior Researcher (Certificate SN № 066321 dated 17.10.1990, Moscow, USSR Higher Attestation Commission under the Council of Ministers). From 1993 to 2017, he worked in various domestic and international production and management companies in Kazakhstan’s geology and oil and gas industries. He held multiple executive and managerial positions, including roles within JSC "National Company KazMunayGas." While serving as Head of the Geology Department and later as Director of the Zhambyl Branch of JSC "KazTransGas," Syzdykov was involved in further exploration of the Amangeldy group of gas fields, regularly reporting results to the Kazakhstan Geology Committee. After the commissioning of the Amangeldy field, he served as General Director of LLP "Amangeldy Gas," focusing on gas extraction from the Amangeldy field and further exploration of Zharkum, Anabay, Ayrakty fields, as well as the Sultankuduk and Barkhannaya sites. As head of the Kazakh office of the globally recognized American company "Miller and Lents," specializing in geological and economic reserve evaluations per SPE PRMS international standards, Syzdykov oversaw the assessment of reserves at JSC "KazMunayGas Exploration and Production" and other domestic subsoil users' fields. From January 2018 to December 2024, he worked at Satbayev University as Director of the Karatay Turysov Institute of Geology and Oil and Gas Business. Training and Internships:
USA, Houston: Miller & Lents (Global oil and gas consulting firm - www.millerandlents.com).
Independent Director and Member of the Board of Directors of the "National Geological Service of Kazakhstan."
Member of the Subcommittee on Geology, Mining, Coal, and Metallurgy Industries of the Presidium of NCE "Atameken."
Presidium Member of the National Academy of Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan.
Awards and Recognitions:
Awarded the "Kurmet" Order.
"Honored Prospector of Kazakhstan."
"Distinguished Geologist of Kazakhstan."

Laureate of the K.I. Satpayev State Prize.
Currently, Syzdykov serves as Acting Director of LLP "Institute of Geological Sciences named after K.I. Satpayev," a subsidiary of JSC "KazNITU named after K.I. Satpayev
